OnLive gaming service has brought about a momentous move in the gaming world, ushering in yet another direction in the way you play games. As of December 9, 2011, OnLive services are available for Android devices. That is right, you heard it correctly. For those who don’t know what OnLive is, I will bring you up to speed. OnLive is a cloud based gaming service, focused on removing the expensive console hardware to bring you the gaming experiences you so dearly love via the web. Instead, the hardware specs are very basic while the weight of the gaming service is based upon your bandwidth speeds. A minimum of 2 Mbps connection is needed for the cloud gaming service. What is recommended is a 5+ Mbps connection. Now that we have chewed the fat, lets get down to business.
OnLive has now started its new movement into the mobile gaming universe. Now you will be able to play major titles such as Batman: Arkham City, Borderlands and more on your android device, without it being a watered down affair. Android devices do need to be running with at least the Android Gingerbread OS in order to use OnLive. I know what you are probably thinking: “How is this suppose to work on a touch screen?” I was perplexed by the same issue until delving deeper into the details. Some of the games provided by the OnLive game service have touch screen controls. For those games that lack this feature, there is the OnLive controller to work with Android and iOS devices priced at $49.99. “Wait Agent P., when did Apple join this party?” Apple devices are soon to be included in this smart phone/tablet mobile gaming affair.
OnLive, my hat is off to you for your savvy way to attempt to push the envelope further. I hope that this concept increases the volume of the community of gamers and helps to bring about a steady method to play AAA titles regardless of where one is located. The possibilities are vast with cloud gaming on smart phones and tablets. In this day and age, most gamers have one or the other if not both. The reviews from users are there, so be sure to have a gander at the links provided; they will provide further insight about the OnLive service, specs, user opinions and much more. When it becomes available for the Apple store, I will be sure to have a test run with it and report back to you guys. As always gamers, until the next time something is in my scope. We game even when the sun is down, all the way till the dawn…
